Justin Taylor Pollinger is a vocal coach, singer, vocal producer, and educator based in Scranton, PA.
It all starts with the right teacher.
Justin discovered his passion for music and teaching in the solace of his high school music room, where Kenneth Brown, his former choral teacher, recognized Justin's untapped potential and began mentoring him. He also became a member of the award-winning Edison High School Choirs, the NJ All-State Choir, and the NJ Region II Chorus.
Justin has spent years studying under some of the best vocal coaches in New York and New Jersey, including Sarah Bachman Krieger (Manhattan School of Music) & Steven Schnurman (The Juilliard School). While a student at Westminster Choir College in Princeton, NJ, Justin studied with tenor Eric Rieger (Eastman School of Music). Most current studies were under Melissa Perry (Temple University, Westminster Choir College & 750 hours of post-graduate work with Maestro Vittorio Rosetta of La Scala.)
Here’s what he’s been doing since then.
Justin founded and directed The A Cappella Choir of Middlesex County College. After a successful first year and a full-length album, the choir performed at Carnegie Hall for the premiere of Eric Whitacre's electronic opera "Paradise Lost: Shadows and Wings."
He directed The Rocky Horror Picture Show at the Villagers Theater in Somerset, NJ, which subsequently moved to The Den Nightclub and ran for two consecutive years.
He organized, directed, and performed in multiple fundraisers benefitting the Edison High School Choir—the program where he first honed his raw talent and a place he still can call home.
As a performer, Justin has participated in live theater and studio session work across the tri-state area. He provided live background vocals for the Bryan Hansen Band and debuted professionally in Boheme Opera’s 2019 production of “Aida.”
As a music engineer, Justin provided vocal production on Grapefruit Sound Lab's album “Eight Days Across America” and their 2022 EP “Original Face.” He did work on James Calleo’s record “SOS” and Vincent DiGeronimo’s record “1950.”
Most recently, Justin founded a new community treble choir based in central Jersey. The singers are comprised of queer or neurodivergent individuals and allies.
Paying it all forward.
Justin has been teaching privately since 2007. His students have been accepted to some of the top music programs in the country, including Westminster Choir College, Boston Conservatory, Cincinnati Conservatory of Music, Oberlin Conservatory, Mason Gross School of the Arts, The Hart School, and AMDA.
He firmly believes that anyone can sing because he knows firsthand the power and potential that lies within a single person’s unique voice. We all have a story worth singing about, and his sole purpose is to help other people shine with talent, confidence, and a lot of love.
